Caption says Niva. Should the caption say Riva, or is the pic wrong (knows nothing about Niva sales, only drivetrain)?
![]() 06/06/2014 at 15:46 |

am I the only one surprised that the wrangler isn't the best seller for Jeep?
Awesome post btw.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 15:46 |

awesome post! I would of thought Vocho would of been numb3r 1 for VW
![]() 06/06/2014 at 15:50 |

Im shocked the Silverado isn't best for Chevy. I guess because it wasn't always called the Silverado.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 15:51 |
|
I'd Dragon that.

Dat boat is THE SEX!
![]() 06/06/2014 at 15:58 |

so what your saying is, if you want to build "the most of a car" never change it's damn name lol
![]() 06/06/2014 at 15:59 |
|
I can't find this one?
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:00 |
|
Wasn't this the Protege in the US?
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:02 |
|
Depressing but... I think (think) the model that sold the most cars in one year was this in 1979.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:03 |
|
Notes:
- awesome list, thanks for putting this together
- very pleasing photos throughout
- 35k Tesla Model S's, damn CA you're making me proud
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:04 |
|
Absolutley including it!
06/06/2014 at 16:04 |
|
It should probably say Riva. I'm pretty sure that 2105/2107 is the best selling Lada, they were sold in the UK as Riva.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:04 |
|
Haha, probably the best engine this side of the 6.4 Litre V8 From the SRT-8 Grand Cherokee of any Jeep.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:05 |
|
Yup, put it up. It is really hard to find the numbers exactly.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:05 |
|
Haha I put it in just for the Shits and Giggles.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:08 |
|
Sorry, my mistake, already fixed. I aint an expert in Lada's.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:08 |
|
Thanks! I was also VERY surprised. But still, I have to say I love the XJ.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:09 |
|
I also though about that, but the Golf still is best seller in europe. For good reason.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:10 |
|
I'd rather know what the best selling car for a single year and trim is, rather than a whole model life. Things like the C-Class get an unfair advantage because they've been around so long and with so many different trim levels, there are many cars that are completely different from one generation to the next (Cadillac's De Ville is another good example).
Either way, good list.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:12 |
|
I was also suppremely baffled by that. I thought, hey, why havent I searched for Silverado? Oh, Impala? The what?
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:13 |
|
I knew you were talking about the Pantera when I read the comment! THAT WIDTH!
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:14 |
|
It just goes Beautifully with everything. I aprove of this as a wallpaper.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:16 |
|
Pretty much. But look at the ones that have been best sellers for only 1 generation, those are the surprises of the day.
The Jeep Cherokee
The Rolls Royce Silver Shadow
The Peugeot 206
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:17 |

This is fantastic! Where'd you get all your data from?
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:21 |
|
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:21 |
|
Yes. I knew it as the 323.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:22 |
|
I'm not sure why your entry for Chevrolet has a Ford parked in front of it, but I like it.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:24 |

I want that booty
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:25 |

The biggest shocker was definitely Bugatti. Also Porsche.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:25 |
|
What is a Hindustan Ambassador doing in the Appalachians?
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:25 |
|
I could not it make it past Pantera. I am sure you understand. O M G
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:25 |
|
Scheisse! I've added it already!
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:26 |
|
Yup, but it was sold worldwide as the "Familia". Much like the GT-86 that they sell as the FR-S
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:27 |
|
It would definetley be cooler, but the data said otherwise (Sadly).
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:27 |
|
Who knew Audi had sold so many $40k Jettas?
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:27 |

Where's Geo
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:27 |

I've owned 2 of these.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:28 |
|
Not trying to complain too much but you did count the entire F series for Ford. If that counts for them I imagine the C/K series should count for Chevy or GMC, take your pick I don't care. I imagine it outsold either the Sierra or Impala easily.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:28 |
|
It's amazing that the vehicle can stay still while the rest of the world whiz by them
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:28 |
|
Thanks a lot! I started it since yersterday and I accidentaly closed it. No option for "Stay in page appeared"
I began again today in the morning, and the photos were only chosen if they were the highest quality/coolest. I HATE how small photos look.
Tesla is pretty much making the best car of the century.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:29 |
|
Yeah it is impressive, great work on the post btw, meant to include that.
And btw, it's funny to see Aston is more exclusive than Bentley now.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:29 |
|
I had figured that as long as the Niva had been in production, it probably didn't beat out other series.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:30 |
|
I get it. It is unfair that the Chevy Silverado isnt on the list, but as you said, the generations make them sell.
Thanks! Oh, and finding the exact year and trim would be almost impossible. This took me some hours of search and addition.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:30 |
|
Has the TSX really out-sold the TL or Integra?? Also, whats with the bizarro logos?
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:30 |
|
A Jaguar Wagon towing a boat is incredibly proper. And look at those rimZ on the trailer!!!!
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:30 |
|
You'd think that the 30 year old XJ would have outsold the 5 year old XF!
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:31 |
|
What brand is InfinitY?
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:31 |

Wikipedia is my new Bible.
Also, just googling and praying for the best.
Some manufacturers also had the data to boast their achievements. Either way, it was hard finding it, but worth it!
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:31 |
|
Dude you forgot Suzuki!!
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:32 |
|
I've never heard of / seen an Ypsilon before. I like it a lot... but that hood shape scares me into thinking it's related to the PT Cruiser underneath.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:32 |

Knew it was going to be the Pantera. That Rear Plate though.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:32 |

Where on earth does this whale fall in sales totals? No old Chrysler Corporation Minivan, wowsza! Or Neon!
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:32 |
|
The bumpers on the Saab are giving me heartburn. Urp.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:33 |
|
For BMW, does that include the 4 series, since that really is a 3 series?
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:33 |
|
Keep in mind that it wasn't the wrangler until 1987 when Chrysler bought them. Before that it was the Jeep CJ series.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:33 |
|
So there have been over four times as many Pontiac Gran Ams sold as there have been Porsches? Also I find it interesting that there have been more Panteras sold than DB7s.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:34 |
|
The TL has sold over 613 thousand in the US alone.

An excellent idea for a post, and I'm sure it took a lot of work to put together. A few questionable things though:
Both Chevrolet and (almost certainly) Dodge's would probably be their trucks.
I'd be super shocked if Jag's long running XJ line wasn't much higher than their XF line.
Notes about how many years/generations of each would really nice too.
Edit - perhaps the Silverados numbers are smaller since Chevy trucks have only been called that for ~15years and possibly a similar story with the Rams name evolution.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:35 |

Damn skippy!

I thought this was muesli in the US?
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:35 |

No way the Dodge Coronet outsold the Ram.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:35 |

I see you there, PT Cruiser, hiding in Europe like the terrible failure you are.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:37 |

there is only 300 veyrons, with all the pictures i see i feel like thats way lowwww. also very surprised by the aston martin, no wonder they are almost bankrupt.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:37 |
|
The Lada goof was worth a nitpick: I figured I'd leave you alone and not nitpick the retro-active naming of the whole Land Rover Series through Ninety and One-Ten range as "Defender", because factory-recognized idiocy is still factory recognized. Regardless, about half the "Defender" number are not the Defender As We Know It.

AWD, V8 Powered, Stick Shift, Recaro Seat, Carbon Fibre, Twin Turbo Jettas. I like those kinds of Jettas pretty much.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:41 |

" Dodge .Coronet: 2,060,000 Units"
Surely there have been more Neons sold than that.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:42 |

It's a batwing wagon. What's not to like?
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:43 |

yup just your average entry level audi...
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:47 |

According to Allpar, Dodge only sold 1,577,000 Neons. Plymouth slightly less.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:49 |

I'm 99% sure the Grand Caravan and Ram have both outsold that.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:50 |

![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:55 |

The Land Rover American's deserve, just not the one we can get right now.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:55 |
|
Jag XF was a surprise. Would have thought more XJs.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:55 |
|
Well yeah, this is the best selling car, but the best selling Acura model of all time is by far the MDX, selling over 656,000 units, and if you count Ford and Chevy trucks, then you definitely need to correct this.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 16:55 |
|
That's a lot of boredom.

thought the plant was in the back of the mini cabriolet, laughed.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 17:00 |

I
like the Rio. It's an honest little bugger and fun to boot. I'd rather have a Mazda2 or Ford Fiesta, but after that the Rio and it's corporate twin the Accent are both decent and plucky little scamps.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 17:00 |

Someone did a project to simplify the logos to basic geometric shapes and one font.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 17:01 |

Hmmm...so as a KIA owner...I can now say I have something in common with Zonda owners. Unknown statistics of how many units shipped. Suh-weet.

Funny it's mentioned, I stopped in at work today on my day off to drop some keys off and saw a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow sitting in one of the temporary storage areas. Most likely a Canadian getting the paperwork ready to bring it across the border.
